Just wanted to share a little something...

So I am sure if you have been reading my blog for the last couple of days you know that I have started a new program at my house called "Mom School." Mom School is basically summer school for my kids taught by ME. My kids need some structure over the summer and stuff to look forward to. Mainly because I don't want to hear those words that we all dread, "Mom, I'm bored."

So Monday was the first day of Mom school.
Every morning I give my daughters some writing prompts.
This morning both girls chose the same writing prompt.  The prompt was, "If cows gave root beer instead of milk, what would happened?"

My oldest daughter who is 10, wrote the following story.
I actually think it is quite creative so I am going to share part of it with you.

"If cows gave root beer instead of milk, we would probably wouldn't have the long exhausting journey to Family dollar because my mom doesn't buy soda often enough."  We walked to Family Dollar today for a gallon of milk, #1 it was the closest store that sold milk (hubby had the car) #2 Family Dollar is like a mile away.  Not far way at all.
Back to the story.
" My mom would have to find a nutritious breakfast alternative, because we usually have cereal and milk for breakfast. And most kids would have a pretty sad life because most desserts that kids like have milk in them. Plus a lot of families make a living off of making cereal, which probably wouldn't sell as well, because most people who buy cereal are buying it to have for breakfast."
She goes on to talk about how children would not get the nutrition they need for healthy, strong bones and it is a good thing cows don't give root beer. My 10 year old really is quite brilliant. I wouldn't have guessed she was so concerned with nutrition. I must be teaching her well then. :)

One more thing I wanted to share with you is that Google analytics is a good thing to have. Except for when it lies to you. You see back in March, I was boasting, well, err..uh... not really boasting, just sayin' that I was getting about 1,200 pages per view. Well for the month of May, I got about 500 pages per view.

Where did y'all go?

Am I boring you?

I think Google Analytics is out to get me. But I have my eye on him. Don't worry, I'm still here.

Blabbing your ears off probably. I probably should only post about 3 times a week, but I just can't. I got too much to say.

Grrrr.

Well, my treadmill is calling me again. And so is that cheesecake, thanks to Krista. Thanks, Krista. Where am  I am going to get some good cheesecake now? You owe me girlfriend. :)

I report my miles into Mama Nut tomorrow. Boy, oh boy.

You'll see how I did tomorrow, OK? :)

Ahhhh ha! Now I got it...great idea. We probably need the same structure in the month of August.

my version of Mom school (though I'm usually MUCH more demanding than this) is currently consisting of swimming 2 or 3 times per week and keeping the kids from killing each other. Why are teenagers the way they are??? yeah, don't answer that... I'm off to wake him up because if I only get 5 hours of sleep I don't see why he gets to zone until 10 a.m.

I loved your daughter's story! Clever writing prompts. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

I haven't figured out google analytics. Not sure if I care. Maybe I should....or not.

Once summer comes, blogging really drops off.

We used to live down the street and I would walk down with the kids from time to time. It was always fun.

I usually do a simplified version of "Mom school." This year I'm settling for them all posting on their blog every other day and a couple science experiments and crafts. Between late let out (the 22nd) and 2.5 week vacation, we only have about 4 weeks at home this summer. :(

Sorry, a little behind in reading. I'm sorry about the cheesecake. Just like Google Analytics? it LIES! It says it's so worth it to savor it's sweet, smooth, rich, creaminess and then I get a glimpse of my butt in the mirror and there it is. Trying to put it behind me, but then my heart aches again and begs for cheesecake. Good job for walking. If it would quit raining here I would consider it myself.

We are starting "Mom school" in a week. Loving your prompt today. And your daughter's answer....she is a smart cookie, you're right!

What does pages per view mean? I don't understand Google Analytics very well.

What a great idea!! LOVE the story!

My numbers have dropped too. Things have just been so crazy I've hardly had any time to read people's blogs! *sniff*
